Saturday nights used to be all about Nickelodeon for me. The amazing line up of shows on SNICK are what kids today will never know. From the windy ways of Kenan & Kel to the terrifying tales of Are You Afraid of the Dark, SNICK was a staple for every kid in the 90′s. We yearned to explain it all and to have the ability to morph into a liquid. Let’s face it, to be a kid on Nickelodeon in its prime would’ve been a dream come true, and for a handful it was.
Amanda Bynes was one of the youngest funniest cast mates on All That, the younger more kid friendly (at times) Saturday Night Live. Her characters were stand out. Her most famous being “Ashley,” the girl next door with a temper center. After her stint on All That, she kept it close to her roots and got her own show, aptly titled The Amanda Show. Years after work aimed at tweens, she leapt into an older world for full-blown teens. Moving on to another show, What I Like About You, Amanda was able to shed the drape of Nickelodeon for a bit.
Then when TV was said and done Amanda found herself on the big screen in cutesy roles alongside today’s most adorable leading men in She’s the Man, Hairspray and Sydney White. Okay, she wasn’t doing Blockbusters, but she was delivering to her niche audience. But the lack of depth may’ve gotten to her last year when she announced via Twitter that she was giving up acting, only to unretire about a month later and go on to be an ultra bitch in the hit teen comedy, Easy A.
Only approaching 25 this year, Amanda doesn’t look a day over 18, so the teen roles may be the route she travels until she reaches the stigma of 30. So for five more years, we can expect Amanda to continue to capture the hearts and infatuations of teens today. Teens who may freak when their older siblings say, “You know she’s like my age?”
So in the years leading to 2016 I predict Amanda “retiring” only one more time, doing at least two more successful teen movies, and three TV movies that don’t do so well. In all respects, I don’t see her disappearing at all though. She’s only one of two from All That that have made a name for their selves. Maybe Kenan can hook her up on SNL when 30 rolls around? If not, I’m sure she’ll finally step into the adult world of romantic comedies. Watch out Kate Hudson and Jennifer Lopez, Amanda Bynes will one day be taking your reigns in that sappy realm.

OMG, I used to LOVE SNICK FLICKS like Are You Afraid of the Dark!!! (There was one, with clowns, that I swear was, like, the scariest one ever…)
Seems like Amanda looking “forever 25″ is the opposite concern of Kenan’s, who certainly has the ability to be casted in roles be-”tween” the ages of 25 to at least 85!
